ABOUT THIS SITE
My name is Stephanie Swavely. I am a registered dietitian/nutritionist in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I have sat with hundreds of people over the past 12 years to discuss what, how and why they eat. I have learned that eating is a complex behavior that is intricately tied to our food system. This system consists of local, state and federal decisions that impact how our food is grown, how much it costs and who has access to it. This site focuses specifically on the animal agricultural aspect of the food system and how it impacts public, environmental and animal health. If you decide that the current system does not align with your values, I hope you become inspired to use your power to change it by visiting the "What You Can Do" section.

I am not an expert in animal agriculture. This website was inspired by my graduate work on understanding the public health implications of concentrated animal feeding operations. This is a compilation of research and resources used in my studies.
